Lake Trout Fishing on the Niagara River
Lake Trout are native to The Great Lakes. They are another cool water trout that can be found by the thousands in The Lower Niagara River when water temperatures drop to approximately 55 degrees and below. They make for great fighting fish, but are catch, and release aboard our vessel.
Guiding for Lake Trout can be opportunity for a great day of fishing. Our annual lake trout run in The Niagara River is second to none. These ancient fish make their annual migratory run into The Niagara River late October, and early November. These Lake Trout come into the system to spawn, and eat. Commonly, they eat their own eggs as forage. Their common size is roughly ten to fifteen pounds, but catching a twenty pounder or bigger is common. Artificial beads that represent a live egg floating in The Niagara River is a go to for many anglers.
