Steelhead Fishing on the Niagara River
Steelhead were introduced into The Great Lakes years ago. They are migratory trout that spend all summer in The Great Lakes then migrate into the rivers and tributaries starting in the fall through winter and into the spring.
Steelhead are some of the most sought after cold water species in The Great Lakes. These majestical fish will start entering the tributaries and rivers of The Great Lakes in early fall to start eating eggs from salmon, and bait fish. Niagara River steelhead are an experience of themselves. Through the beautiful landscape of The Niagara Gorge, Niagara River steelhead are my favorite fishing charters. Waterproof jackets, and bibs are a must for that time of the year is cold, but will surely not disappoint. Guiding for steelhead starts around mid to late November and continues through May until the water gets up above 60 degrees.
